How a family that spent years in Mumbai’s loose-diamond trade came to make jewellery of its own, and why that matters when you choose a diamond.
IWhere it began
Shumira Jewels began with a family legacy rooted in loose diamonds.
Before there was a brand, there were stones: parcels opened on a sorting table, diamonds turned under a loupe, prices agreed on trust between people who had known each other for years. For a long time, my family has worked in Mumbai’s diamond trade, and I grew up in the middle of it.
That is where I learned to look at a diamond the way the trade does. Not as a sparkle in a showcase, but as a stone with a character of its own: its cut, its clarity, the way it holds light, and whether it is honestly what it claims to be.
IIWhat the trade teaches you
In the trade, everything rests on two things: knowing the stone, and keeping your word. A dealer who misjudges a diamond loses money. A dealer who misrepresents one loses something worse, the trust of everyone he works with.
Growing up around that taught me that the real value of a diamond is not only in the stone. It is in the quality and character behind it, and in the trust and relationships that come with it.
For us, jewellery is not simply about the diamond. It is about the story, craftsmanship, emotion, and legacy behind it.
IIISomething of my own
Watching my family build their journey in the diamond industry inspired me to create something of my own. I wanted to take the knowledge and legacy I inherited and turn it into something people could experience and wear.
That vision became Shumira Jewels: a jewellery brand that brings our family’s diamond expertise into thoughtfully designed, timeless pieces, made for the people who will wear them and, one day, pass them on.

- We show you the stonesNatural or lab-grown, laid side by side under proper light. We explain the four Cs plainly, and the difference between the two, honestly.
- You see the certificateEvery diamond is graded by IGI or GIA. You get the certificate number before you decide, and can check it yourself on the lab’s website.
- We make it, and stand by itSet in BIS-hallmarked gold or platinum, delivered with its certificate, and exchangeable for life for a piece of equal or higher value.

How do I know the diamond is real, and what you say it is?
Every diamond comes with an IGI or GIA certificate. The certificate number is shared with you before you buy, and you can enter it on the lab’s own website to see the report for yourself.
Natural or lab-grown: which should I choose?
Both are real diamonds; one is formed in the earth, the other grown in a lab, and they are priced very differently. We offer both, show them side by side, and help you choose what fits the moment and your budget. The certificate always states which it is.
Is the gold genuine?
Every gold piece carries the BIS hallmark with its unique HUID number, which you can verify on the government’s BIS Care app.
Can I see the piece before I decide?
Yes. Book a private viewing at our studio in Bandra Kurla Complex, or ask for a video call and we will show you the stones live.
What if I want something different later?
You can exchange your SHUMIRA jewellery at any time for another piece of equal or higher value.
